Making a board plane in light winds is a comparatively easy job, making a board plane super early and still be comfortable to ride in powered up conditions and choppy water is something much harder!

The elements that ensure early planing in a board (flat rocker and parallel outline) work to make the board less and less controllable (and less and less fun to ride) as the wind increases. The goal of this project was to create a board that ou coudl ride in 9 to 12 knots but wouldnt need to head back to the beach and change when it hits 15 to 18 knots and didnt hinder your riding pleasure.

For 2008 Nobile have added the same high gloss UV stable top foil as for the rest of the 666 range but retained the revolutionary Hydrodynamic rocker line, Anti Vibration Technology and Elliptical Progressive Concave.

Integrated Footbed System: For 2008 Nobile introduce the Integrated Footbed System increasing both comfort and functionality for the rider.

Simply select your stance and screw them in, no other assembly is necessary even the screws come ready in the pad. Gone is the difficult and consuming task of trying to compress the pad to fit the screws as is the risk of crossing threads and ruining the board before you even get to ride it!

Building the pad and strap together into one unit has allowed Nobile to completely eliminate twist at the fixation point; a major source of discomfort when riding.

Conventional straps are higned on one side for adjustment. The geometry of the strap fits the average size foot well but the bigger and smaller feet are left to suffer. Adjusting the size to it's extreme forces the form fitted sections into the wrong position in relation to your foot.The vertical adjustment in our new system ensures that the strap fits into the correct position no matter what the size and shape of your foot without having to resort to using a screw driver.

3-D Top Mould: The 666 EXT boards take advantage of the extending adaptive flex mould. This mould allows the Hydrodynamic rocker line to work at it's most efficient in light winds. As the wind increases and you exert more pressure on the board to control your speed so more of the tail is allowed to flex. This progressive flex allows you to control your speed without changing your direction of travel giving unparalleled performance, not only in lighter winds but also in windier conditions when other boards this wide become not only impossible to rode but also not fun to use.

Rocker: Nobile's revolutionary Hydrodynamic rocker line is featured on the 666 and 666 EXT boards in 2008. The benefits of this rocker line in early planing, maximum speed, upwind ability, control and POP can be easily experienced and will be most appreciated by the rider looking for the maximum freestyle performance available from a twin tip today.

Range Extending Adaptive Flex: Nobile's unique three stage adaptive flex technology allows Nobile to use a flatter rocker on this board than would have been previously possible. The flatter rocker delivers earlier planing but is traditionally equated with lack of control however by building very carefully defined flex areas into the board, the rocker can change to suit the wind and water conditions and the rider's demands, the harder you push the more flex areas of the boards you will engage increasing the effective rocker profile and thus improving control.

Complete Anti Vibration Construction: Using a combination of wood, honeycomb, PVC foam, rubber, carbon and Kevlar the 666 range has the lowest vibration properties of any board currently in the market. Reducing vibration has a tried and tested effect on the ride characteristics of the board ensuring exceptional grip and ride quality through any and all water conditions.

Elliptical Progressive Concave: Elliptical Progressive Concave combines the added advantages of both the flat bottomed board and the concave shape. The tail area of the board is flat allowing increased flex for comfort and smooth turning whilst the centre section of the board has up to 5mm of concave providing earlier planing, extra rail grip and a smoother ride.

Tip Rocker Profilers: Supplied with all Nobile 2008 boards, their patented Tip Rocker Profilers are specifically matched to the profile of the fin. It's no secret that in choppy water some boards generate more spray than others. What's not commonly known though is that the spray is normally caused by water hitting your front foot and being kicked up into your eyes. Changing the rocker of the board changes the release point of the water but can also adversely effect the performance of the board. By placing the profilers under the fins on the heelside edge - you are effectively adding around 5mmm of kick into only the ultimate part of the tail of the board. In most cases this is enough to change the angle the board rides at in the water and eliminates the spray. If you don't have a problem or are fortunate enough to ride in flat water you can leave them out for the most efficient rocker possible.

If you want to be first out on the water - in the waves or are a heavier rider - get one of these - 10 knots and above and you are ripping it up with the best of them!

The rails and fins cut in and slash up the waves with power and the control you need.

 

The width of the board gets you up and planing quick and the footstraps are really nice and even fits my feet with my extra thick wetsuits boots!
