experience, and turns it into a board that equals high performance
surf with a floaty, lively, effortless skim feel.
The Slingshot Globetrotter is the sitting
at 4’10” is, what Slingshot dub as, the perfect
board because with its compact size it comfortably fits into
any kitesurf travel bag as well as the boot of your car!
The Globetrotter is made with Bamboo WVS (Wood
Veneer Sandwich) construction making it a super responsive
board yet has a solid feel for driving hard. WVS also means
that it is the most durable high performance board on the
Ride it strapped or strapless. The tri fin
configuration also allows for snappy turns. And the mini tuttle
fin box provides super structure when reefs or shoreline crop
up.
Equipped with Fastrack, the Globetrotter can
be packed away in seconds.
The Slingshot Globetrotter boards are set
up specifically with a classic tri fin configuration which
allows for precision turns in the wave pocket.
WVS (Wood Veneer Sandwich):
Slingshot use a complex layering system combined with a use
a superior epoxy resin. Old PU boards typically use polyester
or standard epoxy resin. They are cheaper, because they are
faster to manufacture. Unfortunately they are also super toxic
and not very durable. Slingshot start with a super light weight
foam core, and then put on a layer of light weight glass.
We then bond all of this on a more dense layer of wood.
The final layer is glass and superior epoxy
resin. Along each step of the way Slingshot use vacuum bagging
techniques to enhance the bonding strength. The final result
is a proven light weight sandwich construction custom board
that is more durable than the old PU boards.

Very controlled and manageable! J Speed
Rode the Globetrotter for a couple days this
July at the Gorge.
Did a 9 mile downwinder that started at 17mph,
increasing to 30mph. A 5m session in head-high swell 40-45mph.
And another 5m session in 22-30, again with a nice swell.
It is a fun little board, quick, very controlled
at speed yet loose. Easy to throw tons of water on cut-backs.
Feels good in the air, nice easy aerials off top of the wave.
The new footstraps are much improved. Track
is neat, though I didn't need any adjustments so never messed
with it. Looked small after riding larger surfboards. Front
foot is freaky close to the nose, but feels totally fine.
It feels like riding a 5'4" as long as I don't look down
:-)
Low end was quite good for size and was fine
from 17mph on my 9m and I'm 190lbs/86kg.
When it gets stupid windy, it remains quite
manageable. I had to leave the water when it reached 45mph+
because my 5m kite started getting erratic in the gusts, not
because of any issue with the board.
I think 5/5, had a lot of fun on it, didn't
find anything to fault. And the bamboo is gorgeous.
