Kiteboarding Sneaker Binding System: |
|
The connection between rider and board can make or break the quality of your ride. Of course they should look slick but only after the function is perfect.
Shinn Kiteboarding's deep section EVA cushioning ensures luxurious comfort even during the harshest landings, whilst a carefully placed section of memory foam adjusts the surface to the shape of your feet after only a couple of hours riding. Multi-position fixation points allow you to fine tune your stance to perfection. The Shinn Sneaker footstrap has been shaped to provide maximum grip on your foot with minimal pressure points and complete ease of adjustability.
The Sneaker pad provides variable stance angles
and it’s thermoformed profile will hold your foot in place
no matter the scenario. After a short period of use the memory
foam heel insert will have formed itself to where you stand on
the pad. Your sneaker set is now custom shaped for you complete
and ready for action. |

The all new Shinn Gintronic 2012 is so ridiculously easy that some might call it cheating. Bi-lateral flex mould, exaggerated constant curve rocker, super tolerant outline, the Shinn Gintronic defies chop, flies upwind and planes on a summers breeze whilst all the time allowing you to think about what YOU want to do and not what your board ALLOWS you to do.
For 2012, by increasing the length per width Shinn has added to the drive and grip without increasing leg pressure, at the same time tweaking the bi-laterial tail flex improving the auto-pilot ride feel that makes it so easy to progress with your riding whilst still having fun.
The new Gintronic 2012 defies chop, flies upwind and yet planes
on a summers breeze all the time allowing you to think about
what YOU want to do and not what your board ALLOWS you to
do.
This board refuses to be categorized, it's not freestyle and it's not freeride, can Shinn call it the worlds first funride board? Directed towards any level of kiter who wants to ride and play, Gintronic fills a previously open slot in the Shinn range - with no strings attached.
The Gintronic 2012 uses a variation on a constant curve rocker throughout it's length. Some years ago this rocker would have been considered to be slow to plane and poor upwind but advances in flex control, concave hull shapes and of course kites now mean it can be used to provide un-paralleled control, limitless grip and completely spray free riding in all conditions.
The 3D shaping of the deck moulds on all Shinn boards is a blend of functionality and form. The Shinn Gintronic features a Squova mould, which has been developed to enhance comfort and control. It's unique ovalized, central platform creates extreme amounts of tail flex through both axis yet maintains rigidity underfoot to ensure early planning performance and upwind ability are un-hindered.
Choosing
your board size:
Whilst many riders still look at the length of the board when
choosing their size it's much more relevant to look at the
width. The length of the board can be affected by the shaping
of the tip and tail - which in reality plays no part in the
performance of the board.
To clarify the situation further the difference in surface are between a 130 x 40 and a 130 x 42 is approximately 260cm2 whilst increasing the length of a 130 x 40 to 135 x 40 would give an increase in surface area of less than 200cm2 - nearly 25% less!
Footbed
and Straps:
The connection between rider and board can make or break the
quality of your ride. Of course they should look slick but
only after the function is perfect.
The Shinn footstrap has been shaped to provide maximum grip on your foot with minimal pressure points and complete ease of adjustability.
Fins:
All Shinn twin tips are supplied with high visibility G10
fins and deck protection plates. Shaped exclusively for us
from G10 Epoxy (for unsurpassed durability), this 57mm shape
provides exceptional grip for it's size whilst still offering
great manoeuvrability.
Core
Construction:
What's inside your board will make a huge difference to how
it performs. There is a lot of talk about flex but the mount
of flex is just the tip of the iceberg, what"s more important
is where the board flex"s and how fast it responds after
that flex.
Each Shinn twin tip has a carefully engineered core that optimises these characteristics and enhances them for the target rider. Core materials, glass layup and mould shaping are all factors that help us in this area but the heart of every Shinn twin tip is comprised 'mostly' of an Alabasia wood core.
No other core material offers the same blend of consistent flex over extended periods of time, feather light weight and near indestructible durability (not to mention environmental friendliness).
Mould
Shaping:
The 3D shaping of the deck moulds on all Shinn boards is a
blend of functionality and form. The Shinn Gintronic features
a Squova mould, which has been developed to enhance comfort
and control. It's unique ovalized, central platform creates
extreme amounts of tail flex through both axis yet maintains
rigidity underfoot to ensure early planning performance and
upwind ability are un-hindered.
Constant
Curve Rocker and Outline:
Some years ago this rocker would have been considered to be
slow to plane and poor upwind but advances in flex control,
concave hull shapes and of course kites now mean it can be
used to provide un-paralleled control, limitless grip and
completely spray free riding in all conditions.
The outline of your board works in conjunction with the rocker to define the way it will perform.
In freestyle - this outline style features more curve radius between the feet leading into straighter, larger diameter curves in the tip and tail. On the water this translates into strong edge grip, aggressive POP and fast turning when applying pressure equally through both feet.
Who is the board
designed for:
Each size is designed to provide a one board quiver. Light
wind planing, great control when powered and fantastic upwind
ability are all trademarks of the Shinn Gintronic 2012 range.
Huge efficiency, light and upwind ability, yet it's incredibly
smooth, stable and power hungry when you are in the mood.
Not aimed at any specific riding style these are boards that
will allow you to progress quickly and with the minimum of
hassle no matter what your current level is.

The
GRINtronic! Paul Dexter
>>
I have been riding for about 18 months but being 6ft 6" I've always stuck with big boards (151 North Gonzales and 145 Crazyfly allround).
Both perfectly good boards but I was after something to move to that next level and with all the hype around the shinn boards I thought I'd see what they were about. I purchased the 135x 44.
Out of the box first impressions were good. Really nice finish to the board and the sneaker / pad set is the best I've seen yet on a board. No risk of velcro peeling back when riding with this. The Fins are quite big compared to my previous set up's but you understand why when you start to ride.
Another stand out point before you even hit the water is the amount of flex and rocker in the board. Very distinct shaping and lots of flex in the tips. So 3 sessions later and I think they've named the board wrong. It should be the GRINtronic!
First session and the wind was just hitting 16mph and I could still get up and ride so no loss of bottom end compared to my previous 145x41 board which was a bit of a concern when I made the decision to downsize on the length.
Latest session was a nice 20mph+ cross shore, bit of chop, little bit gusty but nothing too bad. First off, this board is smooth to ride. It really copes well in the chop, don't know if it's to do with the shape or flex but it cuts through the conditions without losing ground and really smoothes out the ride.
Upwind ability is quite simply the best of any boards I've ridden before. It just flies up wind. I was out with 4 or 5 more experienced riders but was hauling upwind in comparison.
Jumping - this was a revelation for me. I hadn't really considered what an impact a board had on jumping ability but the upwind and edging capability on this board just allows you to load up and as a consequence I was doubling the height of my jumps on previous boards. Added with the lightweight construction it was just in a different world to my previous rides. Add to the fact that the board is incredibly forgiving of any mistakes it really just allows you to go out and enjoy the ride (all without any spray at all).
If you're after a board that's going to let you get out and enjoy the session, let you ride for longer, and put a grin on your face then I'd have a look at the Shinn Gintronic.
