The connection between rider and board can make or break the quality of your ride. Of course they should look slick but only after the function is perfect.
Shinn Kiteboarding's deep section EVA cushioning
ensures luxurious comfort even during the harshest landings, whilst
a carefully placed section of memory foam adjusts the surface
to the shape of your feet after only a couple of hours riding.
Multi-position fixation points allow you to fine tune your stance
to perfection. The Shinn footstrap has been shaped to provide
maximum grip on your foot with minimal pressure points and complete
ease of adjustability. |

DescriptionKing George is the XL in the Shinn kiteboarding range. The King is not just about being the first to plane but about ruling the water and having the most fun possible in light winds.
King George was created to maximise your time on the water even in less than ideal conditions. Light-wind cruising can be awesome but should you feel the desire to push your boundaries then the King has plenty of built-in control and versatility for performance riding, ensuring you’re not rushing to the beach for a smaller board should the wind increase by a few knots.

Core Construction:
Each Shinn twin tip has a carefully engineered core that optimises these characteristics and enhances them for the target rider. Core materials, glass layup and mould shaping are all factors that help us in this area but the heart of every Shinn twin tip is comprised 'mostly' of an Alabasia wood core.
No other core material offers the same blend of consistent flex over extended periods of time, feather light weight and near indestructible durability (not to mention environmental friendliness).
Mould Shaping:
Rocker and Outline:
A slightly straighter outline into the tip area when compared to the Player increases both edge grip and upwind ability, ideal for situations where the kite is delivering less power. As with all Shinn boards, King George features a central concave washing out to flat areas in the tips to provide both earlier planning and extra flex control.

Reviews
Long live the king! My new King George arrived mid week and I was gagging to get out and try it, and I was lucky to get 2 perfect sessions this weekend.
Friday evening cheeky after work session, 17 knots dropping to 12 knots, flat(ish) water: This is the conditions this board was designed for, teamed with a 14m RPM the King kept my 90 kilos flying when everyone else was giving up and going home. No matter how low my speed dropped in the lulls, or while turning, the King just kept on planing. I was even able to sail downwind, rescue another kiters board, and easily sail 100 yards back upwind in just a couple of tacks. I put in a few boosted jumps, hops to toeside and carved turns and I didn''t feel that the large size of the board hampered any of these, in fact the only way I noticed the size was that it took a bit more effort to really get the edge in, not really surprising as the board is a whopping 49cm wide ! I finally gave up and came in at least 30 mins after everyone else, not because the wind was too light, but rather because there was hardly anyone left on the beach to catch my kite.
Saturday afternoon mid tide session, 25 knots dropping to 17 knots, big chop and overhead waves: Started off this session on my 'normal' twintip and quickly switched to the King when the wind dropped off a bit, as it was pretty uncomfortable being underpowered with 6 foot waves coming at you. I was slightly apprehensive that the King would be too much of a handful in the bigger chop, but it was totally well behaved, and again just needed a bit more heel pressure to sink the edge but other than that was totally comfortable. And as a total bonus I found that hitting kickers and landing jumps was far more satisfying on the wider base.
In summary, the King George is an awesome light wind board, but is equally good as an everyday board for anyone on the heavier side (I'm 90 kilos). It has a great finish (my 5 year old daughter thinks the stripes look really ('pretty'), extremely comfortable pads and straps, and really does weigh and perform like a much smaller board.
When the wind drops, you will be the last man standing!
