Name:
Mark (Kenny) Everitt
Location:
Norfolk, UK
How
did you get started in power kiting:
I saw it on a beach while kayaking! It looked fantastic so I bought
a 10ft flexi and built a buggy about 5 years ago.
What
equipment do you use:
Flexifoil Blades, There the only kite around that can deliver
the power and control needed for the manoeuvres I want to do.
Which
buggy do you use:
I use a Flexfoil Hybrid/Modified Buggy - bigger and stronger….
But then the weight is a bit of an issue.
What
have you been doing the past year:
Workin to pay for all the play I’m doing, I’m at the
beach most weekends and get out flying as much as I can.
What
plans do you have for this year:
I have a few festivals around the UK but I am going to Las Vegas
to the SBBB for a serious buggy freestyle session!
Favourite
Buggy Spot:
That’s a secret - But Pendine and Saunton Sands in the UK
are really good!
What is your most favourite piece
of kit for power kiting:
That’s got to be the MP3 player! I cannot keep me head together
without me tunes!
What
would you recommend as a first time buggier who wanted to enter
into the sport, what kite and buggy would you recommend and why?
Get a lesson first. See if you like it. Get a kite that is easy
to work such as a Flexifoil Bullet or Ozone Little Devil. A good
quality one that you will be able to use still in a few years
time. A Flexifoil Buggy has got to be the one to go for when it
comes to buggies though! Nice build and quality buggy that you
can add to later such as a wider rear axle.
What
kind of tricks do you like to do:
The harder - higher and faster tricks the better! Mainly aerial
spins!
What
surface do you prefer:
Sand rocks. Got the high and low friction that you need all at
the same time. As long as it’s hard packed!
How
do you think the sport will grow:
Hopefully massive! Been a bit slow the past few years but I think
with the right angle on land based activities it can be as cool
as the water based side of the sport!
What's is your best session to date:
There’s been loads in different ways and locations. But
just a really good steady wind of about 20-25mph on the local
beach. All day just pulling massive airs!
Have you received any injuries from
power kiting:
Not as yet but I always wear loads of safety gear to help prevent
it!
Anything
else you want to say:
Just go out and give it a go!
