Name:
Lewis Wilby

Location:
Long Stratton - Norfolk, UK

How did you get started in power kiting:
I first started when my little brother bought a proteam 8 about 2 and half years ago, we took it to a field and i was hooked straight away, then it all went from there!

What equipment do you use:
High performance four line foils - I mainly use Flexifoil Blade III's on handles.

Which landboard do you use:
I use a Flexifoil Airdeck 2004 all the time because its light, nice and short for spins and really good for holding power.

What have you been doing the past year:
Loads of practice - I have spent the last year flying at my local flying spot with my mates and just trying out new tricks and techniques.

What plans do you have for this year:
Even more practice and hopefully go along to alot more festivals and try to think up of new tricks people have not thought of.

Favourite Landboarding Spot:
Inland I would have to say my school field because I know what the wind is like and I can use it all year round, my favourite beach is probably Westward Ho! because its the biggest I've used and I really enjoyed using the size of the beach.

What would you recommend as a first time kite landboarder who wanted to enter into the sport, what kite would you recommend and why:
The most important thing to recommend for anybody getting into the sport is that kite skills must come first. Start by trying a kite around 3-4 metres and really learn to handle it in different winds, dont even step onto a board untill you are 100% confident with your kite.

What kind of tricks do you like to do?
Usually I like whatever I have just learnt but I like doing board offs and different flips when I'm out having fun!

What surface do you prefer for landboarding?
I prefer grass to sand because I'm really used to it and dont get to use sand as often, you also dont go through too many soft patches on the grass which can end your run quite quickly!

How do you think the sport will grow?
Hopefully there will be a kite landboarding series and there will be more people starting up in the as it is quite cheap to start off with!

What's is your best session to date?
There are all good! But I have a better time when the wind is clean!

Have you received any injuries from power kiting?
Nothing serious at all, only had small bruises and cuts!

Anything else you want to say?
Just give it ago because theres is so much fun to be had out of it!
