Name:
Colin Phillips
Location:
West Midlands, UK
How
do you get into the sport:
About five to six years ago I was watching a person on woolacombe
beach with a four line traction kite and was amazed at the control
etc...it went from there!
Which
board do you use:
For kitesurfing I use carbon custom boards also Brunotti and Litewave
boards, I also use Flexifoil Flexdeck kitelandboards on those
light wind days!
What
have you been doing the past year:
Freeriding as much as possible as well as teaching old and new
students.
What
are you plans for this year:
More free riding concentrating on waves and huge air tricks.
Favourite
Kitesurfing Spot:
That would be telling but you can catch me somewhere on the west
coast!
Favourite
piece of kit:
My VW camper thats stores everything!
What
would you recommend as a first time kitesurfer who wanted to enter
into the sport, what kite and board would you recommend and why:
Depends a lot on weight etc but I teach a majority of students
on the flexifoil strike 12 to 15m and Litewave or Brunotti boards
of about 150 to 170cm.
What
kind of tricks do you like to do:
Board offs rotations low and high variations.
What
type of terrain do you prefer:
Any kind of water really except that chop conditions can be a
pain if your trying to nail that new trick.
How
do you think the sport will grow:
Hopefully safely with designated spots at popular beaches - also
a wave orientated section at competitions
What
is your best session to date:
The next one!
Have
you received any injuries from power kiting:
10 stitches in my head and 2 in my ear but that wasn't the kites
fault!!!!!!
Anything
else you would like to say:
Just don't forget its a fun sport!
