The O'Neill Fit:
O’Neill has the best fit in the industry. One of the most important factors in selling a wetsuit is fit.

If a wetsuit doesn’t fit right, it isn’t comfortable and won’t keep you warm. It should be comfortably snug all over.

If the suit fits too loose, there will be cold water entering the suit and you’ll never stay warm.

Temperature Use: This wetsuit is suitable for waters between 5-10°c. UK waters average 10°C with 15°C maximum and a 5°C minimum. A neoprene wetsuit around 5/3mm is suitable for all year use in the UK. 5/3mm Wetsuit Thickness: 5/3mm wetsuits are the winter / summer warmers for northern UK and european destinations. Wetsuit numbers relate to the thickness of the neoprene in millimetres. Using a suit that is 5/3 for example, the body area is 5mm and the arms and legs are 3mm. 100% Stretch: 100% Stretch offers the ultimate in flexibility and improved fit allowing you to stay warmer for longer and allow you to swim and paddle with ease with almost no restriction in movement when using your control bar. Front-Zip Entry: Front entry suits reduce the chance of water entering the suit through the back, neck or front of the suit and keeps you dry without restricting your flexibility. There is no difference in warmth between back and front zip wetsuits. Glued and Blindstitched Seams: The neoprene is glued together followed by stitching with a curved needle to bring the thread through the neoprene in such way, that it exits on the same side that it went in, without punching through the neoprene. The result is a watertight stitch with no holes through the neoprene which also makes it very comfortable to wear. Ergo Fit Male: A men's wetsuit requires a different panel layout to women's wetsuits, one that corresponds to the male body shape, especially in the chest and waist areas. Arm thickness is also increased and leg length is typically longer.

How does a wetsuit work?
A wetsuit creates a barrier against the elements utilizing the insulating properties of closed cell neoprene.

Neoprene is a closed cell foam made up of thousands of tiny air bubbles known as cells.

The air within the cells creates an insulating barrier which slows down the conduction of heat and cold and allows body heat to be retained.

Neoprene:
The thickness of the neoprene utilized in a wetsuit will determine its warmth and flexibility.

A thick wetsuit provides a lot of insulation but can inhibit flexibility.

A thin wetsuit will be very flexible but can inhibit insulation.

The key is to get the right combination of warmth and flexibility so the wetsuit will not only keep you warm, but provide maximum flexibility as well.

What is a steamer wetsuit ?
A 'Steamer' is a wetsuit with sealed seams, usually achieved by blind stitching.

This stops the majority of cold water from re-entering the suit once your body has initially heated it up.

Winter wetsuits are steamers typically with a 5mm body and legs for warmth and 3mm arms for manoeuvrability.
