The all-new North WAM 2013 is suited to nearly all conditions from small onshore mush to powerful beach and reef breaks. The WAMs ability to adapt to nearly all conditions makes it the perfect travel board or the perfect one-board quiver.
The North WAM is North's interpretation of the modern all-rounder. A board you can use in every day conditions, strapped or strapless, equally at home in 2-foot beach breaks as it is in over head reef breaks.
The Wam delivers dependable performance in the widest range of conditions, strapped or strapless, from small to well overhead surf. Building on previous year’s models, the 2013 Wam now features thinner, refined rails, a rounded-square tail and a slight reduction in nose width to pull through those critical turns.
The 2013 Wam also features medium / low rails, a more pronounced single to double concave bottom and an optimized tri/quad fin configuration, allowing you to customize the Wam to your desired feel.
Tri-fin mode offers more hold and drive, while quad-fin mode offers a more skatey and loose feel ideal for smaller surf. Building on the success of last year’s Wam, the new refined foil and slightly curvier rocker tightens the turning radius and increases snap, while still maintaining enough drive and hold to keep things in control when the swell really starts to push.
Super smooth and lively under your feet, the slightly fuller outline, semi boxy rails and pulled in thumb tail carry lots of speed when the waves are small yet still provide hold and drive when you need it most in bigger surf.
North Bamboo Construction
Technology:
North Kiteboarding 2013 surfboards are made using bamboo on
both, the base and the deck of the boards. Bamboo has a high
strength to weight ratio, which has obvious benefits in making
a durable board that will withstand hard heel impacts and
pressure dents, while still keeping the overall board weight
to a minimum.
Bamboo itself offers excellent dampening properties which allow Sky Solbach who’s shaping NKB surfboards already in the third product generation, to create boards that feel light and lively under your feet, while not feeling overly bouncy or chattery through the chop, effectively smoothing out the ride. Bamboo is now becoming more widely used throughout the surf industry for the exact same reasons. Additionally, bamboo is of course a natural and easily renewable resource. We at North Kiteboarding feel, it just should be natural to care about your planet, especially when loving and living an outdoor sport so closely connected to nature like kitesurfing. Finally, on top of all of these benefits, the immaculate finish and bamboo wood grains, give each one of our boards a unique and distinct look. Every single one is not less than unique, already nearly a custom board.

North Wam 2013 Features / Technology:
High Pressure Technology:
Custom Epoxy / EPS / Wood Sandwich
Derived form windsurf technology; the construction features a high strength to weight ratio with great resistance to dents and perforations, resulting in durable and high performance surf style kiteboards.
For 2013, North have put a strong focus on optimizing the flex and dampening properties, bringing the feeling and performance close to that of a traditional Clarkfoam / Polyester custom board.
A new high density "surf-style" core has been developed together with a wood sandwich / multiaxial fibre glass layup, optimizing flex, torsion and dampening.
All of North's surfboards are made using an epoxy sandwich construction. The advantage of this construction is that, basically, it is lighter and stronger than conventional surfboard construction. However, it is often difficult to achieve the same "feel" as a conventional board. North's new layups are optimized to achieve the desired amount of flex and dampening while still keeping it light and lively (and not too hard or bouncy feeling).
The boards also have a bamboo skin top and bottom. The bamboo itself has excellent dampening properties which work wonders for the overall feel of the board. The bamboo skin also makes the boards really resistant to pressure dents and dings. There are also reinforcements under the heels as well as on ding prone areas like the nose and tail and around the fin boxes.
Together with a high glossy polished finish, the North 2013 surfboard range has both the looks and peformance of a custom board but with far superior durability.
