The performance of the Naish Momentum 2012 did not evolve from any other range of kiteboards. It is entirely new. The Momentum goes in a completely new direction in terms of rocker and outline. In comparison to the Money Shot and Arcade, the Momentum’s outline is more parallel over the majority of the length of its rail to balance the increased rocker. Unlike the Money Shot, which derives its pop from its rock solid edging and powerful tips, the Naish Momentum has a more wake style pop off the full rocker when ridden flat.

 

The increased width and surface area promote early planing and added glide; and in combination with the new rocker, it guarantees the smoothest landings ever.

Nasa / Tech-2 Laminates
This construction system builds a unique framework of different composite laminates over the top and bottom of the board interlocked by composite I-beams through the wood core.

 

Bi-Axial & UD Glass Laminates: Instant flex response and superior torsion control provide a positive, smooth feeling ride.

 

Hi-Ten Response Flex

When combining the NASA/TECH-2 laminates with the Momentum’s new rocker and outline, the result is a completely new performance. The Momentum rides amazingly higher, faster, and smoother than any other construction/shaping combination.

 

Full Paulownia Wood Core: Paulownia wood is lightweight, not subject to warp and has outstanding reflex characteristics. It also has one of the highest strength-to-weight ratios of any wood, which makes it the perfect core for kiteboards.

Due to its radically new wake-style pop and insanely forgiving handling -this board setup will appeal to a majority of riders.

 

Tip-2-Tip Hybrid Wood Core

Featuring a tip-to-tip solid wood core with a highly developed thickness taper and hybrid of different densities of vertically laminated wood. Naish Ally Kiteboard Foot Bindings:

 

Designed to fit any foot size, the Ally binding provides maximum comfort, lateral support and multiple stance and duck options, in one easy-to-assemble package.

New overlapping strap design providing size adjustment in width as well as height. Dual Velcro adjusters easily conform to any foot size and keep the upper-strap padding centred on the foot.

 

Molded side wings set the proper angle to the top of the rider’s foot. This keeps the strap positioned and provides lateral foot support.

New design with “wake-boots outside” for amazing support and “foot-strap inside” for heel angle freedom.

 

New double strap adjustment feature to trim the angle of the foot-strap top for optimal fit.

 

Soft in the heel and centre area for full shock absorption where the rider lands the most. Stiffer on the edge to keep the foot centered on landing.

So easy to load and pop! Charlie Railton

 

On building the board up, the first impressions were good, the footpads look very high quality and very stylish. There are lots of options on where to locate the pads including a super wide position. The graphics look great, Naish definitely have some of the best visuals this year.

 

The first thing I would say is really spend some time fitting the pads to your feet, they have loads of adjustment and you can insert the tongue in 3 different slots to alter the width on the strapping.

 

Naish say that it’s a completely new direction for one of their boards, and delivers great freestyle performance. I have to say that it delivers just that, the board is so easy to load and pop, it makes you want to try a trick every time you ride it. Often other performance aspects are compromised with freestyle orientated boards but the Momentum gets through the chop pretty well.

 

It also holds down a lot of power, I went out really over-powered one session and the 132 managed just fine. I think this is great tool to help those trying to develop their freestyle riding. I’ve bought one now and can’t wait to get back out on it, I also can’t wait to get it to the Cable Park.
