| Leading
Edge Abrasion Resistance: Flexifoil have attempted to maximise the ability of the kite to withstand scrapes and wear, but keep the weight and drag implications of the reinforcements to a minimum for excellent flight performance. There are tough polyester patches covering every leading edge seam that comes into contact with the beach, to protect this important stitch line and we have newly designed slim moulded strips to protect the kite’s canopy on the beach. |

Aerofoil Design: The seams on the Proton are placed along geodesic paths to ensure that the load forces running through the kite during flight are directed into the right areas. Therefore the kite maintains its shape in the air leading to no loss of power transfer when initiating turns and powering up the canopy. The geodesic design helps give the Flexifoil Proton a direct response to bar movement. The Proton’s aerofoil is designed to provide powerful boost, good low-end performance, lots of depower and make the kite resistant to back-stalling. |

| Anti
Flutter Battens: Two small battens are positioned into the trailing edge near the wingtips. These are reinforced with Dacron, and create a stiffer trailing edge with clean release for turbulent air. This reduces drag and provides an increased turn speed. The battens are as small as possible to reduce weight. They are also uniform in size across the whole range. |

The joins of these individual segments have been covered with patches of polyester to protect them from the harsh beach environment. |

Edge Battens: Battens are sewn into the trailing edge near the wingtips. Reinforced with Dacron, they create a stiffer trailing edge and a clean release for turbulent air passing over the wingtips, this reduces drag and provides an increased turn speed. The battens have been reduced in size and are now uniform in length across the whole size range. |

| Improved
Single-Point 'E-Z' Inflation: All the struts and the leading edge are interconnected so you can inflate the kite through one single inflation valve, making your kite quick and easy to set up and ride. Attached to the leading edge are ‘inflate’ and ‘deflate’ valves making the kite easy to set up and pack down. |
![]() |
| Bridle
Lines and Toggles: All Proton kites come with colour-coded lines and toggles to ensure you set your kite up correctly. The ‘toggle and loop’ line connection system makes it impossible to make the mistake of connecting the front lines to the back toggles and vice versa. The bridle attachment points have been simplified, making it easier to change your bridle if required and all the ‘high and low’ wind settings are now labeled. The bridle attachment points on the leading edge are now located further round the bottom of the leading edge, so they are protected when the kite is resting on the ground. |

| Improved
Air Clamps: Rounded clips seal off the air between the leading edge and struts to ensure the entire kite won’t deflate in case of a puncture. It is also possible to deflate the leading edge while keeping your struts inflated for easy kite transportation. The connecting tubes in the ‘E-Z’ system have been covered with a neoprene sock which helps to protect them. The strut valves are manufactured with a softer material which achieves a better bond with the bladders. |

| Optional
5th Line Attachment: For riders who prefer to ride using a 5th line system for added safety and self-landing, there is an optional 5th line available. The 5th line is to be used in conjunction with the bridle, not separately. The kite is supplied with the 5th-line top attachment. |

| Wingtip
Dump Valve: Flexifoil were the first company to introduce this feature which makes it quick to deflate and roll up the kite after a session. Open the tip valve, main valves and air clamps and then roll up the kite from one end to the other. The air is expelled in one motion and leaves the kite ready to pack away. |

Coded Flying Lines: All Proton kites are supplied with colour-coded lines and toggles to ensure that mistakes are not made during set up. The ‘toggle and loop’ system means that is near impossible to make a mistake of connecting your front lines to the back toggles or vice versa. The bridle attachment points on the leading edge are now located further round the bottom of the leading edge, so they are protected when the kite is resting on the ground. |

| Suitable For: | |||
The Flexifoil Proton is the kite for all levels of rider. It has a fast turn, snappy handling, and great boost. The all-round package gets you on the water with minimum fuss. Designed to be comfortable and fun to ride - whatever the weather conditions.
The Flexifoil Proton offers the easy re-launch, predictable flight, stability and quick turns that the rider needs to master the waves, or simply cruise across the flats with confidence.
Flexifoil has refined an already successful
kite to an even greater level. This year you’ll see
overall weight reductions and trailing edge modifications
creating a smoother, more predictable flight, whilst bridle
and wing-tip alterations increase relaunch-ability and turn
speed.
The Flexifoil Proton mid-aspect ratio design coupled with
swept back wingtips delivers rock-solid stability, huge depower
and predictable, responsive handling.
The end result is that the overall stability and useable wind range has been improved through detailed refinement of the aerodynamic elements of each size of the Flexifoil Proton. Whether you are just starting out, freeriding, freestyle or wave riding - the Flexifoil Proton will never hold you back!
The Flexifoil Proton are be available in 5m, 7m, 9m and 12m sizes and in one colour per size. The Flexifoil Proton kite can be flown in the standard 4-line mode and a 5th Line can be added as an extra safety feature if required.
Performance Characteristics:
Simplicity of setup
The Flexifoil Proton is an excellent all-rounder straight
‘out of the bag’, with no tuning required. Colour-coded
lines and attachment points make the process of attaching
your kite to the control bar very straight forward.
The ‘Single-Point Inflation System’
provides you with a quick and hassle free inflation of your
kite even on the most windswept beaches.
Ease of use
The Flexifoil Proton has excellent stability, is well behaved
and very predictable. It will never drop out of the sky unexpectedly
and is intuitive to fly under control throughout its wind
range.
Freestyle, Freeride
or Wave Riding
The kite works great for freestyle tricks due to its solid
power. It has great depower and snappy turning, making the
kite great in the waves, and has numerous safety options available
for the beginner and intermediate rider. The Proton delivers
a great ride whether you’re into freestyle, freeride
or wave-riding.
Boost with Smooth
Predictable Float
The powerful profile together with moderate aspect ratio plan-form,
provides a well balanced bar pressure which makes the kite
forgiving and easy to feel – getting jumps dialled is
simple. Within its normal wind range sending the kite results
in big jumps with outstanding float.

Rock Solid and Stable
The front loaded aerofoil keeps the power in the front of
the kite. In gusty conditions, it’s nose drives forward
keeping the kite in the sky - this makes the Proton very forgiving
for beginners, and a confidence booster when flying in challenging
conditions.
Direct and Fast Turning
The hybrid design delivers a progressive, predictable feel
throughout the whole turn. The feedback you get though
the bar enables you to know exactly what the kite is
doing at all times, so you can concentrate on riding.
Freestyle, Freeride
or Wave Riding
The kite works great for freestyle tricks due to it’s
solid power. It has great depower and snappy turning making
the kite great in the waves, and has numerous safety options
available for the beginner and intermediate rider.
The Flexifoil Proton delivers a great ride whether you’re into freestyle, freeride or wave-riding.
Simplicity through
design
Flexifoil kites have always kept bridling to a minimum for
simplicity and to maximise the direct -feel feedback through
the bar. The bridle is so well balanced, the 2 quality, Riley
pulleys actually hardly need to move so you will not experience
problems with wear.
A simple and reliable EZ pump single inflation point system and colour coordinated and error proof line connection system make setting up and packing down as quick, easy and safe as possible.
Setup Options, 20m
or 22.5m / 4-line or 5-line
The standard setup for the Proton is 4-Line mode with 20m+2.5m
Lines. Removing the 2.5m Line Extensions gives you an even
snappier kite that some riders prefer for waveriding.
The kite is configured so it can also be flown with a
5th line (5th-line pack available as an optional
extra). When
you are using the 5th line option, novices will be able
to relaunch the kite with ease and have added confidence
which
the 5-line safety system offers.
Quality Built-In
The leading edge tube is made from Dimension Polyant 175gm
Dacron. This is the most expensive Dacron on the market,
and testing has shown it is more stable (lowest bias
deformation), most durable (the resin keeps the fibres
bonded together longer, and the yarns have highest breaking
strength, so has the best tear strength).
By using this fabric it produces the most accurate Leading edge when compared to the designed shape, which helps keep the kites performance over its life time, (crashing in the water with inferior Dacron’s can lead to stretching of the fibres and deforming kites with reduced flight performance).
Safety System
The Flexifoil Proton primary release is simple to use and
dependable. The system kills 90% of the power in one fast
action. The kite comes down at the edge of the window ready
for relaunch.
This is a proven safety system which is used on all other Flexifoil water kites. Flexifoil believe that it’s the best system available on the market for ease of use , reliability, and ease of re-assembly – possible even when it’s underwater.
Construction Features:
New Bridle System:
The Flexifoil Proton’s Intelligent Force Bridle system is shorter, giving not only more depower but more responsiveness when you do depower. Better optimised bridle points offer greater stabilization under a straight load (straight flight), but keep the twisting in the LE to maintain turn speed.
Combined with other improvements this creates
a markedly improved and
consistent turn rate.
The Intelligent Force Bridle also transfers load around different
parts of the leading edge according to the powered nature
of the kite. Our trusty designers have managed to enhance
the C-shape characteristics of the kite sheeted-in, whilst
also flagging the kite out more whist depowered by increasing
loads at the centre. You’ll find the Proton gives you
all the control over depower you need to tackle the waves.
Rigid Strut Construction:
Flexifoil have developed a new strut design for all kites this year. The new construction is stronger, more accurate and neater than ever before. This contributes to the rigid feel and excellent bar feedback.
Modified Wingtip Design:
The Flexifoil Proton has refined wingtips optimised for each kite size to increase relaunch-ability and turn speed. Amplified over the larger sizes, this gives you the responsiveness you need to navigate the waves and assures you that if it all goes wrong, you’ll be back up in no time. The new design also reduces the weight on the wingtips, contributing to an overall weight saving.
EZ Single-Point Inflation:
All the struts and the leading
edge are interconnected so you can inflate the kite through
one single inflation valve, making your kite quick and easy
to set up and ride. Attached to the leading edge are ‘inflate’
and ‘deflate’ valves making the kite easy to set
up and pack down.
Wingtip Dump Valve:
Now with a dump valve on each wingtip and on the centre of the kite so you can roll either way or open all 3 for faster deflation!
Dacron Cage:
The kite is protected by Dacron reinforcement strips. These
strips run from wingtip to wingtip along the leading edge
,trailing edge and down the struts. Dacron is only placed
on areas of the kite that need them, providing strength to
high stress and wearable areas of the kite.
Leading Edge Reinforcements:
A unique new Kevlar / Neoprene reinforcement patch material has been used this year to protect every circumferential Leading Edge seam. In addition to this there are wear patches on any potential wear point near the toggles. When your kite does come into contact with the beach, you can rest assured we have put the toughest material to take the scrapes!
Trailing Edge Reinforcements:
Every size has seen the trailing edge construction enhanced, creating a smoother airflow and reducing aerodynamic resonance, giving you a smoother, more predictable flight characteristic. The 12m kite has also seen a substantial weight saving as a result of these enhancements.
Intelligent Aerofoil Design:
The Proton’s aerofoil is designed to provide powerful boost, good low-end performance, lots of depower and make the kite resistant to back-stalling by using an aerofoil that will naturally “nose-up” when the lines go slack.
Anti-Flutter Battens:
Tough, durable battens are positioned into the trailing edge
near the wingtips. These are reinforced with Dacron, and create
a stiffer trailing edge with clean release for turbulent air.
This reduces drag and provides an increased turn speed. The
battens are as small as possible to reduce weight and made
from an unbreakable plastic not glass fibre.
Uniform Pressure Design:
The strut diameters have been designed in conjunction with
the leading edge diameter to ensure adequate stiffness throughout
the kite. The struts and leading edge maintain a uniform pressure
which gives the kite a rigid structure for maximum aerodynamic
performance.
Molten Bladder Technology:
Flexifoil is continuing the use of improved bladder welding
techniques to water kites. The new welding process has been
tested up to a sweltering 120 degrees centigrade to make sure
it will stand up to extreme conditions felt in all the world’s
hottest kitesurf locations.
Colour Coded Lines:
All Proton kites are supplied with colour-coded lines and
toggles to ensure that mistakes are not made during set up.
The ‘toggle and loop’ system means that it is
near impossible to make a mistake of connecting your front
lines to the back toggles or vice versa. The bridle attachment
points on the leading edge are now located further round the
bottom of the leading edge, so they are protected when the
kite is resting on the ground.
Reinforced Strut Ends:
Rugged strut ends made with an anti-abrasive material help
protect the struts when handling the kite. The enlarged strut
tips also make for an easier bladder replacement process.
Wingtip Dump Valve:
Quick to deflate and roll up your kite after any session.
Open the tip valve, main valves and air clamps and then roll
up the kite from one end to the other. The air is expelled
in one motion and leaves the kite ready to pack away. Now
with one valve on each wingtip so whichever way you pack down,
it will be quick and easy!
Proton Bar system
The Flexfoil Proton Bar is simple, effective and comfortable.
You can trim the kite with ease whilst riding. The Bar pressure
give great feedback without being too heavy on your arms making
for a comfortable session.
The centre line and leader lines are all easily adjustable, meaning no matter your size you’ll be able to set the bar up to suit. A number of parts of the bar are also upgradable meaning that as your ability grows you can customise the bar to suit.

Relaunch
There are two possible relaunching scenarios on the Flexifoil
Proton, and in both cases it’s very simple and easy
to get going again ...
1) The kite has landed at the edge of the window as a result
of using the safety system or letting go of the bar. In this
case, steer the kite off the water.
2) The kite has landed in the centre of the window (on its
front) as a result of steering the kite in to the water. To
relaunch simply swim towards the kite to roll it on its back,
steer to the edge of the window and then steer off the water.
This relaunch technique is the same as a conventional ‘C’
shape kite.
Wave riding (Tunable)
The Flexifoil Proton won’t pull you off the wave and
the improved profile makes it very difficult to stall. It
drives through the turn keeping you powered and ahead of the
whitewater.
Bar pressure (Tunable)
The bar pressure is nicely balanced to give good feedback
without being too heavy on the arms.
Bar system (Tunable)
Simple, effective and comfortable. The control bar and depower
system will allow you to trim the kite easily whilst riding
- allowing you to concentrate on your kiting without any distractions.
Optional
5th Line Attachment:
For riders who prefer to ride using a 5th line system for
added safety and self-landing, there is an optional 5th line
available. The 5th line is to be used in conjunction with
the bridle, not separately. The kite is supplied with the
5th-line top attachment.

Flexifoil Proton (All-In-One)
Control Bar:
The Flexifoil Proton bar has designed to be easy to use for
any level of rider, to have great durability and full adjustability
meaning that as your riding style progresses you can adapt
the setup on the bar. The bar is available with a full range
of accessories so that you can customize the bar to suit your
riding style as your kitesurfing skills progress.

Design
process
Flexifoil use an integrated approach to the design of the
kite and bar and strive to keep the number of moving parts
to a minimum whilst still retaining complete functionality.
Proven single
release system
The simplest yet most effective safety release system on the
market. The primary release cover is always where you would
expect to find it – just above your chicken loop. This
means that it is quick and easy to find and activate. The
simple reconnection process is intuitive, possible to do under
the water and - with experience - with only one hand!
Retro-fittable
As well as working with the Flexifoil ION, the cotnrol bar
is compatible with all our legacy hybrid-style water kites
as well as future hybrid kites. You can have peace of mind
knowing that your bar will work with past, present and future
hybrid Flexifoil kites as well as many other brands.
Control Bar Ergonomics
The grip on the bar is soft and easy on the hands, so that even in cold weather your bar is far more comfortable and will not make your hands sore - even after prolonged use. Ergonomic bar ends provide a solid connection point at the end of the bar to improve the overall feedback from the kite whilst turning. The soft over-moulding protects your hands when kite looping and enables easy line storage on the bar.
Easy adjustability
of centre line length
People of all shapes and sizes fly Flexifoil kites. The bar
is fitted with a simple system enabling you to adjust the
length of your centre line. Flexifoil have clearly labeled
the centre line and on the leader lines, enabling you to know
exactly where you need to attach your lines when altering
the centre line length.
Centre Line Wear Indicator
The centre line has a red-coloured secondary internal line
which indicates the amount of wear. When the outer Dyneema®
line fails due to wear the inner red line becomes visible.
This internal line has enough strength to enable you to comfortably
make it back to the beach even if you are a long way out.
Centre line durability
Through prolonged use, all centre lines wear. Flexifoil have
worked hard to make sure that our centerline is one of the
best available on the market. Flexifoil use heavy-duty 5.6mm,
12 strand, Dyneema® line which is wax coated to improve
durability and resilience.
V-Core
The Flexifoil Proton (All-In-One) control bar is fitted with
the Flexifoil V-Core - the angled hole in the bar through
which the centre line runs. This vastly reduces centre line
wear and helps to lighten the turn. The V-Core also allows
you to turn and sheet-in at the same time.
Optional
5th Line Attachment:
For riders who prefer to ride using a 5th line system for
added safety and self-landing, there is an optional 5th line
available. The 5th line is to be used in conjunction with
the bridle, not separately. The kite is supplied with the
5th-line top attachment.
