The BEST TS 3-Stage Categories:
The BEST TS kites have evolved into three distinct groups of kites; the large sizes fulfill the needs of riders who want an agile kite for light wind conditions and course racing.

 

The small-medium sizes which are perfect for riders who want kites for newschool and wave riding. The small kites stand out on their own as a result of their 3-strut design. The 5m and 6m are slowed down a little to make them suitable for very high wind conditions.

 

The 7-12m sizes are all 5-strut designs. Reducing the number of struts and refining the bridle layout and canopy shaping to accommodate this change gives all of these sizes greater stability right across the entire canopy and enhanced unhooked feel.

 

The 15-17m sizes have gained significant low end power and stability in light winds as a result of going to a 5-strut layout.

 

What makes the small-medium sizes of the BEST TS 2013 particularly good for unhooking?
For unhooking and newschool the mid aspect, Open C platform provides smooth and constant power delivery. The Open C shape allows the kite to sit deeper in the wind window without back-stalling, allowing you to concentrate on your riding and not the trim of your kite.

 

What makes the small-medium BEST TS 2013 kites perfect for wave riding?

The mid aspect ratio design of the TS makes it a reactive and responsive kite that steers from the wingtips with a light feel at the bar. The SLE bridled leading edge gives a broad wind range and smooth power delivery as the kite traverses the wind window; this combination of broad wind range, steering responsiveness and predictable power delivery allows you to time your moves on the wave to perfection.

Why is the centre strut now connected to the EZ Pump in 15 and 17m?
BEST have changed the position of the T3 and T4 struts to minimise drag making it possible to increase the diameter of centre strut without increasing the total amount of drag in the kite. Previously, a small strut would not have become sufficiently rigid when inflated via the EZ Pump. The increased diameter now allows BEST to connect the centre strut to the EZ Pump and retain the required airframe integrity for easy relaunch in typical light wind conditions.

 

Have any advancements been made in the Air-Aid materials?

All BEST's unique fabrics are under constant development. They represent one of the most practical ways to continue delivering performance and ease of use improvements year after year. Both canopy Ripstop and airframe Dacron materials deliver greater resistance to bias loads this season, giving tighter more reactive handling in all TS sizes. The infusion process for canopy Ripstop has been further refined giving you a crisper fabric with better hand that continues looking good for longer.

BEST Red Line Performance Control Bar and Lines:

The BEST Red Line Performance Bar V3 combines everyone’s favorite features and safety options into one unbeatable bar. Simple enough for anyone to understand, yet with enough versatility to satisfy even the most demanding riders, it’s guaranteed to set the standard yet again this season.

 

The push-to-release QR now comes in a Pro-Cuff version to eliminate accidental releases without increasing the minimum release tension. With only one moving part, the Pro-Cuff QR is easy to reassemble and designed to work consistently with a positive release action with release loads in excess of 250kgs.

The under bar swivel has been improved with added drainage vents and low profile twist-tabs making it smoother to turn no matter how many loops you’ve thrown. Depower line wear is eliminated with the introduction of our new Sacrifice-Insert-System of replaceable low friction Delrin bar centre inserts.

 

The BEST Red Line Performance Control Bar V3 retains the dual centre depower lines, stopper ball , Red Line and suicide safety options of the previous Performance bars. The V3 is the perfect bar for riders of all levels who demand the most reliable and predictable safety system options and ease of use features.

New low profile molded bar ends with integral line winders help make those one-handed loops easier than you expected and a new 3D grip pattern ensures you stay in contact with the bar however you ride.

 

The Double Depower Stopper lets you position your bar wherever you feel comfortable. It takes the strain from your arms so you can stay on the water for longer. The Redline Safety System gives you the option of left or right handed, single front line leashing and overrides the Dual Depower Stopper automatically.

Best Red Line Performance Key Features:
"Click It" Quick Release: A one piece, injection moulded quick release with push-to-release outer-cuff ensures reliable and easy safety system activation. With no mechanical internal parts there's nothing to foul to inhibit safe operation, ensuring reassembly is just as fast and as easy as activation.
Forged Centre : A drop forged alloy bar centre replaces the swaged center bushings used on previous bars. With an oversized, smooth polished and elliptically flared center hole depower line wear is almost completely eliminated on the Redline Performance Bar. The new design also allows the EVA bar grip to run right up to the center hole, making unhooked kite control just that little bit more secure than before.
Dual Depower Stopperball: Our 3 into 1 Dual Depower stopper ball allows for all flying lines to pass through it giving you all the benefits of our well established stopper ball design bars as well as the safety and bypass functionality of our previous Redline bar design.
Red Line Safety Leash: The Redline safety leash connects you directly to the front lines of your kite, allowing you to completely depower your kite. The Redline safety overrides the depower stopper ball automatically whenever you drop the bar or activate the 'Click-it' Quick Release.
Under Bar Swivel: A low friction swivel, shaped with male/female fit for the underside of the bar, helps to keep everything locked in placed when unhooking and makes untwisting your lines easier than ever before. Designed to be easy to clean the new swivel can be flushed out after use and stripped in seconds for a full service should it ever become necessary.
