The Reflex leading edge design (Patent Pending), unique to the GP, works just like suspension for your kite; giving the best unhooked feel you’ve ever ridden, especially in the turns, and helps to soak up every gust. The Reflex LE design also gives the GP an extended canopy lift area giving you more lift for jumping and effortless drive for staying upwind in the competition zone.

 

Designed for new-school and wakestyle riders the GP’s Twin Tune feature gives you multiple front and rear attachment point options so you can dial in more pop, better upwind ability and more responsive handling for competition heats or detune your GP for practicing your latest tricks. With Twin Tune you can effortlessly switch between new-school and wakestyle settings in seconds, allowing you to reinvent your style at a moment’s notice.

 

The GP 2013 is a true C-kite with no bridle, pulleys or sliders. It is designed to work best with the 5th line GP-Bar for maximum control, easy safety and the fastest possible relaunch. The GP-Bar comes with an 8mm spliced centre line, Sacrifice Insert System for zero depower line wear and a new Pro-cuff QR to eliminate false releases when competing. Add of these innovations and features together and you have a C-kite package that is destined to be the future of freestyle competition.

 

The GP is a completely new C-kite design, how does it differ from previous designs?

The GP isn’t just different to the Yarga and Team Yarga kites that we made before, it’s different to every other C-kite on the market. The GP is a pure C-kite, 5-lines with no bridle, but with all the benefits of a 5th line system for quick and easy relaunch even in light winds.

 

The BEST Twin Tune system has multiple front and rear line attachment system that allows you to dial in turning speed, turning circle, bar pressure, depower and unhooked feel to match your style and riding.

 

What makes the GP unique however is The Reflex leading edge design. The leading edge of the GP has a unique reverse sweep that extends between the T2 and T4 struts on each side of the kite. The Reflex works like suspension for your kite, soaking up the bumps for an unbelievable unhooked feel and also distributing flying line load across the entire kite for amazing pop whenever you load up.

 

 

How does The Reflex actually work?

By reversing the curvature of the leading edge we’ve have been able to introduce shock absorption into the airframe, when you load up the kite lines the LE absorbs the extra load and then returns it to you in a controlled fashion once you pop. It’s similar to the way in which you can control the flex of a board by adding concave into the rocker; it becomes smoother and more predictable so each trick becomes easier to make.

 

The Reflex also extends the lift area of the canopy allowing us to extend the canopy forward at the T1 strut. The extra canopy area gives you more lift when you jump and also provides for improved depower and wind range, so you can ride the same kite all the way through your heat even though other C-kites are being blown off the water.

 

 

Do you need a 5th line bar for the GP?

The GP gets its own 5th line compatible bar. It shares many features with the RP-Bar but is overbuilt and simplified to offer outrageous day long riding comfort and durability.

Depower Control Bar

BEST 5-Line Freestyle Control Bar and Lines:

The BEST GP Freestyle Control Bar combines everyone’s favourite features and safety options into one unbeatable bar. Simple enough for anyone to understand, yet with enough versatility to satisfy even the most demanding riders, it’s guaranteed to set the standard yet again this season.

 

The push-to-release QR now comes in a Pro-Cuff version to eliminate accidental releases without increasing the minimum release tension. With only one moving part, the Pro-Cuff QR is easy to re-assemble and designed to work consistently with a positive release action with release loads in excess of 150kgs.

For the GP-Bar BEST have thickened the centre line depower ropes and them braided them together to form the thickest and more durable centre line you’ve ever had. Add this to our Sacrifice-Insert-System that lines the bar center with replaceable low friction Delrin inserts and you have the smoothest depower action available. The under bar swivel has been improved with added drainage vents and low profile twist-tabs making it smoother to turn no matter how many loops you’ve thrown. Depower line wear is eliminated with the introduction of the new Sacrifice-Insert-System of replaceable low friction Delrin bar centre inserts.

 

The BEST GP Bar also retains the dual centre depower lines, stopper ball , Red Line and suicide safety options of the previous BEST bars.

New low profile molded bar ends with integral line winders help make those one handed loops easier than you expected and a new 3D grip pattern ensures you stay in contact with the bar no matter how aggressive your kite loops.

 

Low stretch flying lines are 700lb rated, color coded for easy setup and proven to offer incredible durability. The GP-Bar is the toughest and most practical bar we’ve ever built; it’s the unfair advantage we all need.

 

Best Red Line Performance Key Features:
"Click It" Quick Release: A one piece, injection moulded quick release with push-to-release outer-cuff ensures reliable and easy safety system activation. With no mechanical internal parts there's nothing to foul to inhibit safe operation, ensuring reassembly is just as fast and as easy as activation.
Forged Centre : A drop forged alloy bar centre replaces the swaged center bushings used on previous bars. With an oversized, smooth polished and elliptically flared center hole depower line wear is almost completely eliminated on the Redline Performance Bar. The new design also allows the EVA bar grip to run right up to the center hole, making unhooked kite control just that little bit more secure than before.
Big Ass Bar Ends: When BEST designed the GP control bar - they used the strongest and lightest composite engineering plastics that they could find to help make the stiffest bar ends they had ever made. Then BEST took these marvels of lightweight engineering and buried them in the biggest, fattest, softest and most comfortable EVA bar end covers you’ll ever smack yourself in the face with. They might not look like a skinny supermodel, but trust BEST - there’s simply no substitute when you need to grab that bar after a handlepass.
Red Line Safety Leash: The Redline safety leash connects you directly to the front lines of your kite, allowing you to completely depower your kite. The Redline safety overrides the depower stopper ball automatically whenever you drop the bar or activate the 'Click-it' Quick Release.
Under Bar Swivel: A low friction swivel, shaped with male/female fit for the underside of the bar, helps to keep everything locked in placed when unhooking and makes untwisting your lines easier than ever before. Designed to be easy to clean the new swivel can be flushed out after use and stripped in seconds for a full service should it ever become necessary.
